This is Guinness enjoying my yard sale find! Bailey our Saint Bernard loves these fold out chairs. His second one is in pieces in the garage, but he loves to lay on it. I found this one this weekend at a local yard sale for $3.00! Can't beat that for a comfy dog bed. This has replaced the one in the garage. So for now, no more foam is being tracked inside the house. Tis the season for garage/yard sales, so get on out there and get yourself a bargain!

Dog Days of Summer Already?
Thumper digging a hole under the bush to stay cool. It was super warm today in Georgia. The 4 dogs got their walk early morning to avoid the heat. Even with the AC on,they seem to be zapped from the heat. We have gone from low 60's to 86 degrees. Where is Spring? We want 70's and sunny! They don't call it Hotlanta for nothing.

chalkboard paint

I am finding uses for chalkboard paint. It is so neat. I repainted our Hoosier cabinet green and put a glaze on it. I decided to paint the doors with chalkboard paint. Neat way to write your grocery list, reminders, just have fun! I painted some clay pots (earlier post). Hmmm what else can I use it on, dogs are scared! They are sure not to stand still for too long! :-)) I will keep you updated.. but if you want to have some fun, get a can. Great for a child's room, kitchen, craft room. Have fun!

Monday Madness...The 3 that got away!
When I got home today from work, I opened the garage door and 3 out of the 4 dogs came running out. Bob forgot to close the door from the garage to the house. Do you think they came to greet Mommy? They all zoomed right by me across the street to the neighbors back yard. Got back in my car just to see them running back across the street two doors down and our neighbors house, Jennifer. Libby woof at the handyman in the driveway. She and Guinness ran up to the front door. No doubt to visit their friend"Trouble"who lives there. They were looking in the sidelights for their little buddy. Bob came running with leashes just as Thumper appeared. We had them trapped! YEAH! In the old days, we might not of seen Thumper for a few hours if he got out, now you can see him thinking.... I am too old for this and heck it is dinner time! We got Guinness and Thumper on their leashes to head home. As we started to go, Thumper ran into the freshly planted flower pot on Jennifer's stairs. It overturned, and all the flowers came out. Oh my, we felt so bad. The picture is after Bob repotted Jennifer's flowers. Scott, Jennifer's son looks on. Thanks for snapping the picture for me Jennifer. I hope the flowers survive. Thumper feels bad....

Sunday Walk

The rain held off and we were able to get the 4 dogs their daily walk. This is a good thing! Libby can get a bit hyper in the evenings if she hasn't had her walk. Bob likes to take her twice a day to avoid her being so hyper. She does get that from her Mommy's side. Thought you might enjoy Bailey's favorite part of the walk! The water spigot at the pool's clubhouse! He likes the water full force, so refreshing... :-) This is one area that he is the Alpha dog! He pushes all the other dogs away from HIS water spigot!
Recovery Day!

We are all recovering from a busy Saturday. As you can see Libby is taking her morning nap on the stairs. Love that black paint! We were quite busy yesterday. Bob had a busy day at Doggie U at the shelter and I was in my own little world keeping super busy at home. I started the "painting of the family room" I just did the wall under the bar. Our family room is green and we are painting it........ green! My anxiousness took over as usual so I started. We are going from a darker olive green to lighter green. I think that the family room will really brighten up with this paint choice. Two coats of primer and then two coats of Lowes Valspar (love their paint) "Lyndhurst Shady Grove" green. I really like the way it turned out. You really don't need two coats of paint with Valspar, but I have a husband that feels your always need to do two coats! ;-) We all need a chill day today so the rest of the family room will be tackled in the next few weeks! Changing out the curtians also, if I can find the ones that make me say, yes that will work! Still searching! Everyone here is sleeping, so I am going to go chill and watch my fav, HGTV!!

Guinness and his chair, by the way, Happy Saturday

This is Guinness and what he believes to be HIS chair. This is one chair in the house that dogs are allowed. If another dog is in "his" chair, he just about will do anything to lure them out. He will go bark by the window to draw them off. He will nudge the trash container lid, he will ring the bells on the back door like he wants to go out just to get them to move off "his" chair. It is really funny to watch him thinking of ways to get his brothers and sister off his chair. If his antics work, he is up in that chair so fast before the other dog's paws hit the ground. Too funny! But that is our Guinness! The one will brought the king size bed for too. See a trend here?

Waiting to plant some flowers, will it ever warm up?

My little flowers pots waiting for some plants... Thought maybe the dogs could learn from them... they are pretty smart. They do a great job at sit, not too much on stay, and only one will fetch! :-) They do a great job of down... especially after eating their dinner!

Hump Day

Long day on Tuesday. Had a company dinner to attend. The four dogs were very happy to get the leftover steak from the dinner. Wednesday morning I got up to do the Wii Fit and Thumper got up with me, but as you see he was in not mood for doing any type of exercise early in the morning. Too early Mommy! Please don't hurt yourself on the Wii Fit.....again!

walking dogs
Giggle for the Day! I hope you enjoy!
Dear Dogs,
When I say to move, it means go someplace else, not switch positions with each other so there are still two dogs in the way.
The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.
The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help, because I fall faster than you can run.
I cannot buy anything bigger than a king size bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue to sleep on the couch to ensure your comfort. Look at videos of dogs sleeping. They can actually curl up in a ball. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space used is nothing but doggy sarcasm.
My compact discs are not miniature Frisbees.
For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, try to turn the knob, or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered.
In addition, I have been using bathrooms for years; canine attendance is not mandatory.a
The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dogs butt. I cannot stress this enough. It would be such a simple change for you.
Rules for non pet owners who visit and like to complain about our pets.
1. The dog lives here. You don't.
2. If you don't want dog hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture.
3. I like my dog a lot better than I like most people.
4. To you, she's a dog. To me, she's an adopted daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly.
5. Dogs are better than kids. They eat less, don't ask for money all the time, are easier to train, usually come when called, never drive your car, don't hang out with drug-using friends, don't smoke or drink, don't worry about buying the latest fashions, don't wear your clothes, don't need a gazillion dollars for college, and if they get pregnant, you can sell
the pups.

A few pics I have from our home.... learning how to do this! Bear with me.
